The Artists

Les Arts Florissants

William Christie, conductor

Xavier de Maistre, harp

A passionate amateur musician, Marie Antoinette was often depicted alongside her favorite instrument, the harp, and she was an important champion of the instrument. For this unusual program, French period-instrument ensemble Les Arts Florissants presents deliciously refined repertoire showcasing harpist Xavier de Maistre. Along with Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik, the ensemble will accompany de Maistre on two sparkling harp works before concluding with Haydn’s Symphony No. 85, fittingly nicknamed “The Queen.”
