Set on three Sunday afternoons, the first Symphonic Masters option begins with Esa-Pekka Salonen conducting London’s Philharmonia Orchestra, of which he was recently made principal conductor. Iván Fischer returns to lead his excellent Budapest Festival Orchestra in a lively program, and Vladimir Jurowski conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra in an evening that includes Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.

Symphonic Masters 2 opens with one of the musical world’s great treasures, the London Symphony Orchestra, led by the unmatched Valery Gergiev in an all-Brahms evening. Then, in March, Vladimir Jurowski conducts the London Philharmonic in Mahler’s Fifth, and Gustavo Dudamel conducts the Los Angeles Philharmonic in the New York premiere of John Adams’s newest oratorio.
